Since our beginning in 2004, Pacers Events has evolved into the leading boutique race management company in the greater Washington D.C. area. Under the direction of Pacers Event Managing Partner, Kathy Dalby, our organization has created a collection of events focused on delivering a unique and exciting race experience for our participants.

HISTORY

Our company was formed after the hugely successful inaugural Gulf Coast Relief Run 5K, an event concept developed and executed only two and a half weeks after Hurricane Katrina. The event drew a crowd of over 4,000 participants, raised over $120,000 for relief efforts, and received local and national attention.

Pacers Events has extensive experience with bringing new events to the greater Washington D.C. metro area and has been the creative force behind some of the largest and most well-received race debuts in recent history. Our organization has developed, promoted, and executed over 15 inaugural Pacers events including the Crystal City Twilighter 5K, Four Courts Four Miler, Fairfax Four Miler, Clarendon Day 10K/5K, and the Crystal City 5K Fridays race series. We have also been successful in building the success of established races. Our marquee event, the Parkway Classic 10 Mile & 5K, began in 1984 as a 15K and quickly became a local favorite event. In 2006, Pacers Events acquired the event and quickly grew it from 2,500 registrants to a sell out crowd of 7,000 registrants.

RACE MANAGEMENT

Pacers Events manages and assists several non Pacers-owned races each year. These events include: Arlington 9-11 Memorial 5K, GW Birthday Classic 10K, Wilson Bridge Half Marathon, Lawyer's Have Heart 10K, and many more.

Management service packages are developed based on client needs and budgets as well as Pacers Events availability. Packages include full-service event management, first year race director programs, finish line management, and timing & scoring.

Pacers Events contracted management services are coordinated by Lisa Hundley-Reeves. To reach Lisa about your event, please submit a request for proposal:

Individuals interested in becoming part of the race day team must volunteer at two or more Pacers Events before consideration, must be available for at least five Pacers Events in the next twelve months - see a list of Pacers Races below or contact our Volunteer Director, Kristen Hundley-Reeves - and be willing to attend training outside of event hours. Please note that most event days start two to three hours before race start and end anywhere between two and five hours after race start.
